Passing the torch….
The talented Morningside Mom Caroline presented me with my first blog award since this blog’s inception thre months ago.
I am truly humbled. In her passing of the award, she called me smart (which I thank her for… it is nice to be validated, especially since we all know as our kids get older, they think that they are the smart ones…..) and said that I have a great deal to say (we all know that is true!)
It was a great week around here at Down to Earth Mama. Not only did I get an award, but my post on PPD was featured on iVillage. I feel honored for that recognition, but I am also grateful that many women were able to have access to that post (only three months into the blogging world, I don’t have much traffic…. but it was a post that I thought was important enough to reach many). Hopefully, it was able to touch some of them and they don’t feel as alone.
So this post is to “pass the torch” of this award. The rules of the award are
- Put the logo on your blog (see above).
- Add a link to the person who awarded you (it’s in this post – see above).
- Nominate at least seven other blogs (see below).
- Add links to those blogs on your blog (done in the nominations).
- Leave a message for your nominee on his or her blog (to be done as soon as this post goes up, so I can leave the link too!).
I spent a great deal of time this weekend weighing the blogs I would nominate. They are as follows, in no particular order.
- 21st Century Dad: Elliott is an informative, fun, and interesting blogger. He is a devoted father to a blended mixed-ethnicity family. He is a geek (which I love…. I am married to a geek) with a hint of bad-ass. He is an enigma and I keep up with him on a regular basis.
- Matt, Liz, and Madeline: There are no words to describe this blog. Read it. When you read it you will understand how much the mundane matters.
- Is there any mommy out there: She is an insightful, very talented mother to three. She can tell stories of the craziness that occurs once you have children like no other.
- Postpartum Progress: Katherine Stone is a survivor of postpartum obsessive compulsive disorder. Her website is an AMAZING resource and source for hope for all of those suffering from postpartum disorders. I salute her for all of the work that she is doing to reach those that need help, and for getting the word out.
- Life: An Ongoing Education: Lara David is an funny writer with an interesting point of view. This year, she will be a first year teacher. As a former teacher myself, I will be watching her writing quite closely.
- Moose in the Kitchen: Moose. What can I say? I admire anyone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. And anyone who wears a cape to a movie I say fits in that category.
- Toddled Dredge: I love her no nonsense style.
This award certainly got me looking for other interesting blogs out there. I found many; there is so much good writing out there. It was great to find so many dynamic people and points of view out there.
Thanks Caroline, for putting me in such good company. If nothing else, I am having fun writing and finding a way to express myself.

Wow! Thank you so much. I am blushing and honored to be in such company. Congratulations on having your post featured on iVillage. It is so important when someone like you is willing to share your experiences with the more difficult side of parenting. It helps so many!

Thanks for the award! I check up on you regularly too. Ever since my wife pointed me to your post on the inflatable lion, I was hooked.
I only have a hint of bad-ass? Maybe I need to actually post photos of my tattoos to get more than a hint of bad-ass. But the more I reveal, the less of an enigma I am. You can’t win!

You are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. You are Winston Churchill’s Russia.
