My guffaw and snort moment

Remember the movie The Money Pit.

Remember the part of the movie where Tom Hanks throws a log on the fire and the entire chimney falls down?  Yeah, well apparently that is my chimney.

Truly.

Apparently, the chimney guys can see wall boards. Apparently my 120 year old chimney is moments away from collapsing.

Apparently, the shock of it all has me saying apparently alot.

As they told me this and they told me how much it would cost to fix…. I honestly had this moment….

And guess how long it will take to fix…..

Two weeks. *

*Note: this figure may be an exaggeration for the sake of the humor of the story.

I LOVE this move and totally heart Tom Hanks but feel heaps of sympathy for you. 2 weeks? Have they SEEN this movie? :)

Apparently, after 120 years, your chimney just wants a little nap.

Somedays, I wish I lived in a tent full time…

Oh, my gosh, too funny. I haven’t seen that movie in years, and Tom Hanks’ response to the tub crashing through the floor made me laugh this morning. Sorry to hear about your chimney troubles, though! That’s no fun. When you’re a homeowner, it seems like it’s always something, doesn’t it?

Oh my goodness….that is what they refer to as the character of older houses. Is there a way that they can put in a sleeve so they don’t have to rebuild the entire chimney? We had that done at a house I used to own.

It’s definitely always something, isn’t it?! Sorry to hear about the chimney and it’s good that you can find the humour in it! I hope it gets fixed fast before the cold weather finds its way to you!

Oh my. Well, it looks like you caught it in time?

Having a 20-something-year-old house has its disadvantages, too. They just don’t build them like they did 120 years ago!

Oh no, home repairs are the worst! Our driveway has been in repairs for a month now while I carry my two kids (both under 2) through the yard to the street since I can’t walk on it or park in the garage. Hopefully they won’t cause too much disruption to your life and can finish earlier than anticipated!
