Delurking Day – Day in which you are guilted into leaving a comment

Hello all!   Today is National Delurking Day.  I know all you lurkers.  Those that read blogs and other random writers on the net, but never comment.  Yeah.  I know you.  I know you read this blog.  I have seen the numbers.  Seen where you are hailing from.  And yet you rarely comment.

Oh, I know you.

I know you because I am you.

Here is your chance.  Let those that you read on at least semi-regular basis know you are reading.  I am sure that they would like that….. I know that I would.

So, as a little incentive, I am asking you today what is one character from literature or movies that you relate to and why.

My answer?  Ducky from Pretty in Pink.  Why? It is  not because I am pining over a man or woman that I will never have.  No.  It is  because he is a constant goof.  He is dedicated.  And he uses his goofiness to cover his insecurities.  Me, in many ways. (of course this is only one aspect of my multi-faceted personality)

Plus, I LOVE his sense of style (the shoes!) and his dance to “Try a Little Tenderness.”

Another person whom I relate to is Helen Hunt’s character in Twister.  Dedicated to her work….. almost to a fault.  In love with the science.  Very responsible.  Again, me, in many ways.

And now you know entirely too much about me.

Now you.  Who do you relate to?

I think it’s our quirks and oddnesses that make us most appealing. Don’t know that I relate to him, but I always liked Tom Hanks’s character from The Man with One Red Shoe–part of a conspiracy that he’s clueless about and thriving by accepting his true nature while others self-destruct, caught up in their own lies.

Uhm, no one really. I watch too little tv, that’s obvious.
    But I didn’t want to un-delurk. So, hi :-)

mmmm good question. I would have to say Scarlett O’Hara- confident, not afraid to pig out in front of her date, and thinks she knows what she wants but is usually wrong. Yup- that’s me!

You had to pick a hard question, didn’t you? LOL

I have no clue who I relate to most, especially as my latest TV watching has been things that only tend to interest 11-year-old boys…

I’m a new “lurker” to your site and want to say “Hello, and Nice to meet you!” I’m doing the picture a day for a year too and was steered to your website by Tammy Mitchell. Love the pictures… keep them coming and stop on by and visit my site too.

I’m new, and I wont lurk. But I do only comment once in awhile due to lack of time :-)

I also cannot really think of any characters right now as my main tv viewing is news and sports. I adore Grey’s Anatomy but don’t necessarily relate too closely to any characters there. Well, maybe Bailey.

I try not to lurk, but sometimes I skim too much and don’t slow down.

Hmmmm person I relate to the most. I would love to think it is Mrs Cosby from the Cosby show, but I know I don’t possess her style or grace (but I do have a crazy hubby and 2 crazy kids!)

I just saw a comment you left on another blog (Trees and Flowers and Birds) and had to come see who has my name! It’s not too common to find someone with the same spelling of my name!

Delurking, even though I comment sometimes, too. :)

As for a person? Not sure. I’d need to think.

Looks like Corina hit a little vein of comment gold with this one! I’m hardly a lurker though.

Imagine if Jack Black was picked to play Mr. Spock in the new Star Trek movie coming out in May.

I’m still managing an identity crisis, being the product of two different cultures while a physical appearance that only clues you in to one. He clung fiercely to one part of his identity while trying to squelch the other. It’s one thing to have a multi-faced personality. When any two of your facets don’t get along, that’s when you run into trouble…. and some interesting stories. :)

Some water-cooler banter turned into an all-star cast for a movie about my office. This work buddy pegged Jack Black to play me in the movie. We had great fun being casting directors. Before “The Devil Wears Prada” ever came out, we already cast Meryl Streep as our boss.

Okay this is going to show my age big time – since there is no current person I identify with I have to reach back to one of my all time favorite shows…starring Marlo Thomas “that girl” – she was funny, sweet, honest, quirky, wholesome, and in love…so her situations framed her character as she had to make decisions after she got into predicaments that could have compromised her ideals. The show was an exercise in situational ethics and the moral was to do the right thing even when it seems easier not to.

I would say Joan of Arc but that would elode to martyrdom. So, I’ll go with a cross between Jekyll and Hyde with a splash of Dr. Ruth and a sprinkling fo Kahlil Gibran. I know it’s complicated but its been a long complicated life.

Forest Gump is the character I most relate to.
He is an existential philosopher with a large soul entourage.
