My greatest skill: Procrastination

Oh, yeah.  I have my black belt in procrastination.  I am a master.  I eat, breathe, and sleep procrastination.  Then, I procrastinate some more.

If only procrastination was zen, I would be the calmest person in the world.

But come to think of it,  I guess procrastination is zen.  And I am the high strung zen master.

Whoa, that is deep.  And a paradox.   And so very me.

Anyway, here I am, sitting, writing on my blog tonight when I should be packing for our trip tomorrow.  I have a list a mile long, and it is  only getting longer.  Actually, to be fair, I have been packing all day.  Just in five minute intervals, every hour and half.  Then I get distracted.  I clean out the car.  Start folding laundry (only not to finish that), clean out the car, run some errands, clean the stove top, do the dishes.  Only none of this stuff is getting done to completion. I am flitting from one task to another, without, rhyme or reason, just because I don’t know what to do with myself.

I procrastinate on the one thing that needs to get done tonight.  Packing.

Tomorrow, Sweetie, Wise  Guy and I leave on a journey together to NC.  Just the three of us.  On a 9 hour drive (barring any D.C. traffic).  Actually, it could be a fun trip, if we crank up the music and just rock it the whole way.  We have done the trip many times with the kids, both driving and in the air.  This will be the first time that I am tackling the trip by myself with the kids though.  My biggest obstacle is to organize the car so  the kids are generally able to reach everything from being strapped into their car seats.  That, and making sure the Wise Guy doesn’t climb under the stalls at rest stops.  It will be a long day, but hopefully smooth.  And we will be making the trip in our much more comfortable new (used) car.

So, I am here procrastinating some more, and putting together some rocking cd’s for the car.  I am in need of suggestions for music.  Getting a little tired of my catalouge.   I listen to hard rock, alternative, classic rock, grunge, folk, and blues.  Give me your favorite songs.

I will be here, procrastinating.  And practicing zen.

Have you ever heard of Adiemus? Very interesting stuff. Orchestral music with incredible female vocals. No words, just syllabic vocals. My favorite creative music.

I think you can go a little easy on yourself because in my book there’s no such thing as procrastination when you’re a mom. It’s this never ending list of things to do that continues to grow no matter how much you accomplish. :D

As for your trip have you thought about getting a book on tape too. Maybe “James and the Giant Peach”. Not sure how well that would it would go over with a toddler but? I notice if you turn a book kind of down low in a car after it starts and they get interested it has the magical ability to induce napping!!!!

Ah, I am too late to give you some suggestions for your rockin’ out trip. Hope the drive went well and you are enjoying a great time with the kids.

On another note, if you are indeed looking for more music, why not enter the wee contest I have going on and you could win yourself a custom mixed CD made just for you, by me! Check it out.

In the meantime, hope the weather is cooperating, the kids are having a swell time and you’ve got it all under control.
