A warm, festering infection on the hand. Beautiful to go with any manicure.
Fresh new skin beneath the peeling blisters and hard scar tissue knobbing up my fingers (they were too spindly anyway).
Oh, and the exhaustion, and the stomach problems that come with antibiotics.
A enormous bottle of ibuprofen of which to take away any discomfort (HOLY CRAP…. PAIN …. and why oh why did they not give me anything stronger….. good thing I had the good stuff left over from my wisdom teeth extraction) with which I can use as evidence when I need a new liver.
A second round of washing everyone for days in the lovely bouquet of Hibiclens. It is just like visiting a tropical island.
Oh, and I can’t wait for the Mupricin in the nostrils. Nothing like sticking ointment up the nose to make the children squee with glee. (Because damn it, we will rid this damn house of this damn thing. I thought we did last time. Apparently not…..)
Oh, and laundry. Oh, the laundry….. how I have missed you. And the endless disinfecting. (which would have been easier had I been able to use both hands before two days ago.)
Seriously, though. What the hell? Where the hell did this come from and why?
I am finally mended (typing with one hand was really getting to me), just the scar tissue remaining which is still causing some pain. Still will be on antibiotics for another 5 or so days. I am lucky this time I did not have to check into the hospital. Hopefully, this journey ends here.
