To Wise Guy on his Third Birthday
This post is three days late. But I know that you will forgive me as the past few days have been a whirlwind of celebration for you. Recently, you have begun to surprise me each and every day. You are still fiercely independent, getting frustrated easily if you can’t do things by yourself. You still are extremely energetic, running, jumping, wanting to play the “Don’t catch me” game (which, by the way, you get upset with if someone doesn’t actually attempt to catch you.)
But the last few weeks I have notice a slightly more mature Wise Guy. Now, you will sit quietly and cuddle while we read you a book. Before you would be using our heads as a hurdle to jump over. Now, you will ask ever so sweetly to be excused from the table. Now, you will sit and work on puzzles for the better part of an hour before you want to run off and do something else. You are dramatic, acting situations out with raised eyebrows, clenched teeth, or flapping your long eyelashes. Your imagination astounds me. Your attempt to talk like your sister is hilarious. You can be beyond stubborn, but you will do MOST things your sister asks you to do, as long she asks you in a sweet voice (she hasn’t quite picked up on the phenomenon yet though…. so for now, you are safe.) You emulate your sister, even if you give her a quick jab to the ribs occasionally. I love to see your mind working, your thoughts expressed. You are growing more rapidly than I ever thought possible.
Happy Birthday, Wise Guy! Can’t wait to have adventures with you this next year!

They grow up so fast. And he is certainly the type you want to enjoy in slow motion.

Sweet post. They grow so quickly. I’ve noticed that if I don’t try to see the differences they all blur together because they never stop coming. this is why I love a good birthday post!
